We would like to use the Manufacturing Summary Log in the following way: Before our expediter visits the supplier, he will create a Manufacturing Summary Log and assign all Manufacturing Items he plans to inspect.

When the expediter is at the supplier, he can just scroll through the list of "planned" inspections (manufacturing items) and enter the progress accordingly.

This would eliminate the frequent search for individual manufacturing items during the suppliers visit.
